Home for break, workingworking on a video involving a story about Hawaii and a rare fictional fruit. Footage so far includes fish, moons, moving jewelry, patterns, and landscape shots. The story is kind of a non-linear narrative outlining the inherent lonliness of some things. The story may be told by the fish, or I may film two people having a conversation. If it is told by fish, it will be in subtitles, which really appeals to me. For the sound I am going to use bits from a cd by my former band, Hroom Hroom, which features my friend and collaborater Blue. I may intersperse some of her lyrics with the story too, b/c i'm finding they fit so nicely.

I've changed my mind about the above project. I wanted a project that involved the viewer a little more - just walking by and activating a sound isn't really an active role for the viewer. I suppose too that melancholy is not the mental state i wan't to explore - i think compassion and ambiv

Gravity: The first topic I want to unravel is gravity. We are all affected by

gravity—physically and emotionally, possibly in more ways. Our personalities

can be drawn here or drawn there based on interest; and physical matter is drawn

to the ground due to gravity under normal circumstances. There are some other

concepts of physics that are related to this topic: electricity, force, inertia

and so on. In mathematics, there is a formula to calculate issues related to

gravity in physical reality. Probability and chance are related to gravity.

A google search on “gravity” reveals Sir Issac Newton as the top hit. Lower on

the list is howstuffworks.com, which I LOVE, and it says that, “Gravity is the

force that causes two particles to pull towards each other.” I think that we

Please be patient with me as I encounter many technological catch-ups. The image in the link below is quite possibly very HUGE, but for now, it's all I've got to communicate my ideas about the first project.

doodad. I I chose the flow and cohesion of water to play/act metaphorically for counsciousness. When When the water flows to separate, conciousness is exploring the individual areas, and when it flows together it has a "mental" cohesion. That's That's what I want to convey. At At this point, I feel that I am about 15% into the idea of this project, so I may just limit the project to the very simlple, two-chambered box that you see in the diagram. armenia is thought as as the birthplace of creation. mount ararat is spose to be closely linked to the creation myth, the garden of eden. noahs ark is also spose to be built on it. the term "cradle of humanity" is one that is thought of when talking about mount ararat. this mountain now belongs to turkey. but used to be in armenia.
during world war 1 the armenians sided with the russians, which angered the turks. the turkish government exiled 1.75 million peoplle on a death march o the syrian desert. the turks attemped a genocide by demolishing there towns so that nothing would be left to remember the armenians. unablw to go back home armenians left for russa and the united states. the turkish government denies this was a genocide, the french also denied it was a genocide untill recently when they made a bill that say that would make denying the killings of armenians by the turks as a genocide is a crime

For my research i am going to examine my ancestoy, including the folklore and mythology.
In Armenian mythology there is a half animal half human being. His name is Al. Al has also been known as Elk. Al was the first companion of Adam. Adam was earth and Al was Fire. These two were incompatible so God put Eve on to earth to be Adams companion. Al got insanely jealous. From that day on he attacks pregnant woman and steals there babies. When he attacks he also steals their lives. He then takes there liver down to the water and dips it before he eats. This act kills the mother and child.

I've been trying to figure out what the avant-garde is now. We always talk about it in the past-tense, which makes sense from an art historical sense, in order to really pinpoint the avant-garde you have to have a timeline to look at to see the whole progression which Carma Gorman suggests goes from being seen as aweful/not art then in 10-15 years being asymilated into mainstream art and media and then in 50 or so years becoming part of the gradeschool art curriculum (think synthetic cubist collage, mobiles). In this sense see the avant-garde for what it is before it has ceased to be that takes a sort of visionary quality that perhaps, I suppose, only those artists who themselves are doing the avant-garde work are capable of seeing. But this doesn't take away from the yearning to be doing, or even just aware of, something that
